Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders would like to provide an update on the ConVal School District’s strategic planning process and invite community members to provide their feedback.

Strategic plans act as a roadmap for the district to follow a five year period, citing specific projects and goals for long-term sustainable growth. The current strategic plan was created in 2016 and will end in June.

Going forward, the approach for the new strategic plan is focused on three major themes related to the COVID-19 pandemic: the reopening of district’s schools, helping students recover from any learning losses that may have occurred since March 2020, and figuring out how to apply the lessons learned over the course of the pandemic to develop and implement new learning strategies and programs.

Specific topics that will be discussed for the next strategic plan include the Preschool for All initiative, outdoor learning, communication strategies and opportunities for students to graduate with multiple credentials, such as an associate’s degree or workplace certifications.

“Planning for the future of the district can only be successful if we include all stakeholders in the conversation,” Superintendent Rizzo Saunders said. “We are grateful for the support from the community we’ve continued to receive over the past year and look forward to this important feedback about our long-term plans, including how recovery from the pandemic will look.”

Those interested in volunteering to help with the planning and design may fill out this Google Form. The School Board will notify those who volunteer whether or not they have been selected and which subcommittee they will serve on if they have been. This would be at least a five month commitment by volunteers and though scheduling may vary, subcommittee members will be expected to meet weekly ahead of the budget planning process.

The form will be available through April 9th. Volunteers will be chosen at the following Strategic Planning meeting and contacted shortly after.

Public forums will be held throughout the process for community members to provide feedback. Specific dates and times will be shared when available.

More information about the Strategic Planning Committee, including future meeting dates and agendas, can be found on the district’s website here.
