Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and Principal Heather McKillop are pleased to announce that more than 20 ConVal Regional High School students have earned recognition for exceptional performance on Advanced Placement (AP) exams.

Through more than 30 college-level courses and exams, AP provides motivated and academically prepared students with the opportunity to earn college credit or advanced placement at the college level, and stand out from their peers as they navigate the college admissions process.

AP exam scores range from 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest.

  • Nine students earned AP Scholar recognition. This recognition is awarded to students who score 3 or more on at least three AP exams.
  • Ten students earned AP Scholar with Honor recognition. This recognition is awarded  to students who have averaged a minimum of 3.25 on the AP exams they take, and score 3 or more on at least four of those exams.
  • Four students earned AP Scholar with Distinction recognition . This recognition is awarded to students who average a minimum of 3.5 on all their AP exams and score 3 or more on at least five of these exams.

“Taking an AP course requires time and dedication. Receiving these high scores and recognitions is something all of these students may take pride in,” Principal McKillop said.

More than 3,600 colleges and universities annually receive AP grades. More than 90 percent of four-year colleges in the U.S. report that AP students who score a 3 or higher on AP Exams typically experience greater academic success in college and enjoy higher graduation rates than students who do not participate in the AP program as high school students.

“As a district we’re exceptionally proud of these students for demonstrating such a high standard on challenging exams during a very trying school year,” Superintendent Rizzo Saunders said.
