Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and Principal Beth Gibney invite community members to take part in Pierce Elementary School’s inaugural “Dash for a Playground” 5K this week, hosted by Pierce PTO.
The 5K will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 9 a.m. The entry fee is $25 per person. Children ages 10 and under may participate in the kids dash for free.
Proceeds from the event will go toward a new playground at the school. The current playground was installed more than 20 years ago and is outdated. The school hopes to raise enough money to create a more inclusive playground that includes equipment meeting the development needs of all students.
The 3.5-mile course begins and ends at Pierce Elementary School, 19 Main St, Bennington. The event also will feature raffles and refreshments.
The school plans to make this an annual event to benefit other initiatives at Pierce.
