It is with deep sadness that Interim Superintendent Dr. Ann Forrest and Principal Heather McKillop share that a Conval High School student has died as a result of a motor vehicle accident on Friday, Sept. 20. Two other students in the car sustained injuries and were brought to the hospital.

“Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this tragedy,” said Interim Superintendent Dr. Ann Forrest. “This is a profound moment for our school community, and it’s essential that we come together to support one another in the days ahead.” Principal McKillop encourages parents and guardians to talk with their children about their emotions and experiences, and to help them access the support they may need during this time.

To help students and staff cope with the impact of this tragedy, the district will have support resources available at the high school beginning Monday morning, Sept. 23. This will include counseling services and therapy dogs to offer comfort and support.

Additional resources for students and families relating to grief and loss can be found here courtesy of the CDC, and here courtesy of the National Education Association.
