Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and Principal Heather McKillop announce that ConVal Regional High School students will return for fully in-person learning.
Starting Monday, April 5, all high school students who wish to attend in-person will have the opportunity to do so. Since the start of the school year, most students have been following a hybrid learning schedule, and have alternated between in-person and remote learning days. A fully remote learning option will remain available for students who wish to continue to follow that model for the rest of the school year. From April 5-16, a once-a-week flex day will remain in place. This information has previously been shared by Principal McKillop in her weekly newsletter.
“We are all looking forward to welcoming all of our high school students back into the classroom starting on Monday,” Principal McKillop said. “Our students and staff have done an incredible job maintaining high quality work while participating in hybrid learning. We are proud to be able to safely offer this opportunity for students as they continue the school year.”
ConVal High School has successfully operated under a hybrid learning model since the beginning of the school year. Based on the amount of reported cases of COVID-19 in recent months in the nine sending towns, the district has decided to move forward with an option to transition to fully in-person learning.
Additionally, Gov. Chris Sununu announced on Thursday that all schools in the state will be required to provide in-person learning five days a week by April 19.
Though elementary in the district have been learning in-person for five days a week since the start of the school year, administrators are looking at how this executive order may change the weekly schedule for middle and high school, and will share any information as soon as it becomes available. Students at all grade levels who wish to remain remote may continue to do so.
“After this challenging year, we are excited to welcome students back to the high school to finish off their school year in the classroom full time,” Superintendent Rizzo Saunders said. “Though we learned of the five day a week state mandated reopening during the press conference yesterday, we have been working diligently over the last few months to create a plan to bring our high school students back for in-person learning before the end of the school year. We will continue to follow all public health guidelines to protect the health and safety of our entire community and monitor the situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic so that we can make any and all necessary changes.”
Students will maintain at least three feet of distance in all district buildings, wear masks and will be asked to self-screen daily for symptoms of COVID-19.
