GREENFIELD — Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and Principal Shawne Hilliard are pleased to announce that the New Hampshire Dance Institute (NHDI) visited Greenfield Elementary School.

The week-long residency program, designed to empower students in their learning through physical exercise and the performing arts, kicked off on Monday, April 1. Throughout the last week, NHDI Representative Jeanine Edmunds taught each class specialized movements and dances related to the theme of “Shining Stars.”

Students were originally supposed to perform their dance routines for families on April 5, but due to the significant snowstorm, the performance was postponed until Tuesday, April 9.

The Tuesday night performance included all students in Grades K-4 and a brief special appearance by teaching staff.

After his grade’s performance, one student expressed: “I will remember this night forever.” A parent commented that the whole building had a wonderful feeling throughout the performances.

The program was made possible in part thanks to the Greenfield PTO.

“Not only is this an opportunity to learn some dance steps, but also a chance for students to build their confidence and work together as a team,” said Principal Hilliard. “Thank you to the PTO for helping to put on this wonderful program for our students!”
