Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and Principal Heather McKillop are pleased to announce that ConVal High School students have been recognized for their excellent results after taking the National German Exam.

The National German Exam is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of German and is administered annually to 20,000 high school students in all 50 states and 20 countries. ConVal High School students took the test on Jan. 4-5.

The exam consists of four levels, with each level containing 100 questions that include multiple choice, matching, and true or false. The test is broken down into two parts: listening and reading. All materials used in the exam are from authentic resources.

Each segment of the exam assesses students’ proficiency and understanding of elements ranging from basic individual sentences and conversations to more complex conversations, everyday language use, all the way to more complex or nuanced topics and texts.

Participation is voluntary, and upon completion of the exam, students are presented with gold, silver, bronze and achievement awards based on their scores.

Nine CVHS students have been recognized for their strong performance:

  • Thomas Flynn, Grade 10, for earning Gold in Level 2
  • Adeline Regis, Grade 10, and Evalyn Harriot, Grade 11, for earning Silver in Level 2
  • Olivia Michaels, Grade 10, for earning Bronze in Level 2
  • Izzy Jobin, Grade 11, for earning Bronze in Level 4
  • Luka Stowell, Grade 12, for earning Achievement in Level 2
  • Ronia Foecking, Kai Reitnauer, and Ryan Whitney, all Grade 11, for earning Achievement in Level 4

Because of his score, Flynn will be eligible to apply for a scholarship for summer study in Germany.
