Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders, Principal Heather McKillop, and Athletic Director Kevin Proctor would like to share that senior Sophia Lake excelled at the Division II Swimming and Diving State Championship.

Lake competed in the State Championship on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the University of New Hampshire in Durham.

She competed in the 100-yard breaststroke, during which she earned second place, and the 200-yard individual medley, where she earned third place.

The breaststroke was a close race against a swimmer from Hanover, where Lake gained on her significantly in the last 25 yards, earning her second place.

Due to her efforts at the State Championship, Lake was named a nominee for the Keene Sentinel’s player of the week.

“To see Sophia race in the State Championship was very exciting! The Hanover swimmer won the breaststroke by only 3 hundredths of a second,” said Athletic Director Proctor. “It’s wonderful to see all of her persistence and practice culminate in a big way.”

“Congratulations to Sophia on her placements in the Division II Swimming and Diving State Championship,” said Principal McKillop. “We are so proud to see our dedicated swimmers be recognized for their hard work. We cannot wait to see what Sophia and her fellow swimmers accomplish next!”
