PETERBOROUGH —  ConVal Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and Principal Katherine Foecking are pleased to announce that one of Great Brook School’s robotics teams qualified for the VEX Robotics World Championship.

The team, nicknamed the Awesome Potatoes, performed exceptionally well at the 2021-2022 New Hampshire/Vermont VEX IQ Pitching in Challenge State Championship, which was held on Sunday, Feb. 20 in Manchester. The team placed third in a field of 22 teams in the Robotics Skills Challenge.

As a result of their success, the team is invited to participate in the VEX Robotics World Championship – specifically the VEX IQ Challenge Middle School Event – which takes place in Dallas, Texas in May.

“To be chosen for such a distinguished competition is a truly incredible feat for the team. The students began working together less than a year ago, but have developed exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills in that short time, which led them to qualify for this World Championship. We are very proud of the students and their exceptional work,” Principal Foecking said.

The District wishes to congratulate the students on the qualifying team – Mallory Mason, Elena Spinale, Fiona McKinney, Jayla Syrotchen, Gwyneth Moritz, Josie Hodsdon and Quinn Lake.

The team’s robot will be proudly displayed in the main hallway of the school during the coming weeks.
