PETERBOROUGH — Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders is pleased to announce that the ConVal School District welcomed two new assistant principals to its administrative team at the beginning of the academic year.

Dan Legro has begun in his role as assistant principal at South Meadow School, while Carol Young is the new assistant principal at ConVal High School.

Young begins her new role as assistant principal following more than 22 years at ConVal High School over two separate stints. She began her teaching career at ConVal in 1994 and worked as a science teacher there until 2002, when she departed for similar roles at Wilton Lyndeborough Cooperative High School and later Merrimack High School.

She returned to the ConVal High School science department in 2007, again as a teacher, and has had progressive responsibility in the years since. Young has taught a variety of science courses, including anatomy and physiology, biology, environmental science and more.

Beginning in 2012, Young began taking on administrative roles at the high school in addition to her classroom work. She served as the science department leader from 2012-2019, supervising multiple science teachers, participating in curriculum development and overseeing the renovation of the school’s science labs.

In 2019, she took on the role of teaching administrator, where she expanded her oversight of faculty members, supported the school’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and led professional development programming.

Legro joins South Meadow School after nine years at Nashua High School North as a secondary mathematics teacher, as well as a semester-long tenure as an interim assistant principal at the school.

Legro is originally from Manchester, where he attended Memorial High School.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics/finance from Bentley University before obtaining his master’s in education and his principal’s certification from Southern New Hampshire University.

Legro previously worked as financial advisor for Waddell & Reed, a General Manager of several retail outlets, and head hockey coach for several varsity ice hockey teams. He then transitioned to teaching high school math for a decade.  When he is not working, Legro enjoys spending time in his yard at his Amherst home, going to restaurants or enjoying time with his friends and family.
