Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and Principal Jim Elder are proud of the Great Brook School robotics team’s latest success.
At the last event of the regular season on Saturday, Jan. 28, the Awesome Potatoes tied for first out of 24 teams at the VIQC Tournament at the Jennie D. Blake School in Hill. The team, coached by Rick Mellin, also captured the Excellence Award in the middle school division.
The event’s Excellence Award goes to a team that displays brilliance across many facets of the robotics competition.
The Awesome Potatoes won trophies, which only go to the top six participating teams, at every event this season. As many as 44 teams compete at the events.
At the New Hampshire/Vermont VEX Robotics Competition State Championship on Feb. 19 at Manchester Community College, the Awesome Potatoes finished third overall, and won the Create Award.
“The Awesome Potatoes once again made the ConVal School District proud,” said Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders. “The continued success points to the dedication of our teachers and our students to using modem technology in displaying the skills they’ve learned in the classroom.”
