Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and Principal Shawne Hilliard are proud to share that Greenfield Elementary Students spread joy this holiday season by singing winter songs at various locations throughout the community.

On the afternoon of Monday, Dec. 19, GES students in Pre-K through Grade 4 walked to the Greenfield Commons, an independent living facility to begin a concert for the community. They have been practicing “Jingle Bells,” “Frosty the Snowman,” “Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” to share with the residents. Each student will accompany their singing with handmade jingle bell bracelets.

Students in Kindergarten through Grade 4 continued on their community tour to sing at the Harvest Market and the town library. They ended their song-filled afternoon at the Greenfield Meeting House where their families were invited to hear them sing their four songs.

Students and staff plan to spend about 45 minutes walking to the locations and spreading cheer, and will return to the school in time for dismissal.

“In the past, our Grade 4 students have worked with the music teacher to prepare carols to share in the neighborhood,” said Principal Hilliard. “However, this is the first time the whole school will be involved – we hope it becomes a yearly tradition!”
