PETERBOROUGH – ConVal School District Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and Temple Elementary School Principal Timothy Iwanowicz invite families to view special art projects created by students during an afternoon of art.
On Tuesday, Jan. 31, students from kindergarten through fourth grade came together to celebrate National Inspire Your Heart With Art Day. The art day has been promoted by various art organizations throughout the world. The day is focused on celebrating different art in all its forms.
The students at Temple Elementary spent the whole afternoon divided into multi-aged groups and rotated through five different art stations. Students created decorative name tiles, clay pinch pots, large letters designed with yarn, colorful chalk drawings and zentangles, which are a miniature abstract work of art created by a collection of patterns.
“These activities allowed our students to get in touch with their creative sides and showed them the importance of expressing themselves creatively,” Principal Iwanowicz said. “We want our students to experience all sides of learning and hopefully this sparked something in them that grows as they do.”
The art can be seen throughout the school and families are encouraged to come and experience the exhibits for themselves.
