Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and Principal Shawne Hilliard are pleased to share that students at Greenfield Elementary School participated in a Week of Wellness, facilitated by long-time ConVal staff member Kelly Parker.

Parker, health and wellness teacher for the ConVal School District, led students through a variety of wellness activities and lessons as part of GES’s Week of Wellness, held Sept. 11-15.

Parker shared physical, social, and emotional wellness lessons including being kind and respectful, learning about physical and health literacy, and advocating for oneself and one’s family about self-care. Students also learned ways to transfer their learning to their home community.

Parker has worked in a number of education roles in her 40-year career. She has taught Language Arts, English, and Health at the middle school and high school levels. She has also served as an assistant principal and has coached many different sports.

“The most important thing I have learned at each job that I have held is that no matter what, relationships matter. They are key to being successful at any grade level, with students, colleagues, families, and the community,” said Parker. “It’s important to realize that regardless of the role, it’s about working together to achieve success and develop student character that reflects a caring, cooperative, and respectful community of learners. I love what I do. Seeing students be excited to be in class sparks joy for me.”

Parker also facilitates a number of special events. She leads Field Days, co-teaches during Circus and New Hampshire Dance Institute (NHDI) weeks, and organizes the “Turkey Trot” each year.

“Ms. Parker brings enthusiasm and a love for learning to PE/Health classes and does so much for the district,” said Superintendent Rizzo Saunders. “Her dedication to creating meaningful and engaging experiences for our students is amazing. We are so fortunate to have her as a member of our ConVal family.”
