PETERBOROUGH — Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and School Board Chair Timothy Therberge are pleased to announce that ConVal School District successfully held its first community forum recently.

The community forum took place on Thursday, Sept. 30. The goal of the forum was to create a space for open and transparent dialogue among the School Board, administration and ConVal community.

Community members had the option to attend in-person or through a livestream. There were 35 in-person attendees and more than 275 livestream attendees.

The community forum was divided into two sections — a one-hour presentation portion, followed by a one-hour question-and-answer portion.

Leading up to the forum, community members were issued a survey with seven proposed topics and were asked to rank the ones most important to them. The top five ranked topics were presented at the forum. In addition to the question-and-answer portion, participants had the opportunity to ask questions after each topic presentation.

“The decisions of our administrators and School Board affect the members of our community and their children. The Board believed that we needed a more open and transparent way to communicate, which led to the idea of a community forum,” Dr. Rizzo Saunders said. “We thank all who attended for their active and respectful participation, which helped to make our first forum a great success.”

Details about the next community forum, which is expected to be scheduled for January 2022, will be released as they become available.
