Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and the ConVal School District proudly share that a longtime staff member has been recognized for excellence by a statewide organization.

Denise McLenon, Administrative Assistant to Human Resources, was named Office Professional of the Year by the New Hampshire Association of Educational Office Professionals. McLenon received the award at NHAEOP’s 70th annual Edith E. Hammond Conference on May 4 in North Conway.

The award recognizes the office professional who displays initiative and creativity, demonstrates exceptional skill and dedication, earns respect and admiration of colleagues and the community, and displays exemplary leadership abilities through active participation in district and community activities.

McLenon has served in multiple administrative capacities within the District for more than 30 years, including Curriculum Administrative Assistant, Executive Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Superintendent, and Executive Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent. She also has served numerous roles within NHAEOP.

“Denise served the staff, students, and community with respect and care,” Brenda Marschock,  Executive Administrative Assistant to Superintendent Rizzo Saunders, wrote in her nomination. “Her years in the District, since 1988, have provided her a wealth of information that has benefited us all.”

Marshock’s nomination was supported by other current and former District employees.

“What makes Denise stand out from others is her initiative and ‘above and beyond’ approach to communication, learning, teamwork, compassion, overall desire to make things better, and anticipation.” – Tim Markley, retired Director of Human Resources

“I am always amazed at the amount of work she manages to complete without seeming overwhelmed. And, she is never too busy to answer questions or lend a helping hand. Quite simply, Denise is delightful!” – Judy Miskelly, Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Superintendent

“Denise is a true professional in every way. In my experience she has always demonstrated the ability to support others in a calm, caring, respectful, and professional manner. She always gets the job done.” – Jo-Ann Hopkins, Administrative Assistant, Dublin Consolidated School

Nominators also highlighted her teamwork approach, and her ability to bring fellow office professionals together to ensure they feel they are part of a team.

“Denise is the glue that holds our office operations together. This award is a fitting tribute to her skill and professionalism throughout her career,” Superintendent Rizzo Saunders said. “As importantly, Denise makes everyone she comes in contact with feel like they are part of the  ConVal family. We are incredibly proud of her for receiving this honor.”
