PETERBOROUGH — Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and Principal Beth Gibney are pleased to share that Antrim Elementary has launched a new program Lunches with Lions in collaboration with the Antrim/Bennington Lions Club.

Lunches with Lions kicked off on March 5 and volunteers from the Antrim Lions Club visited AES and had lunch with students in Grades K-4.

Volunteers will rotate each week so students can form relationships with Lions Club members to create strong community bonds between the younger and older generations within Antrim.

Later this month, the AES Hobbies Club will begin, and Lions Club volunteers will teach students about different hobbies such as gardening, knitting, card games, chess, carpentry, robotics, and more. The Lions Club will also join classroom activities for Grades 3-4, to share their knowledge of local government and the history of Antrim.

The weekly program will continue for the rest of the school year and beyond.

The Lions Lunch program aims to create authentic and engaging educational opportunities while building collaborative relationships that support students’ social and academic development.

The Antrim/Bennington Lions Club is part of a global service network that strives to help local communities. For more information on the Lions Club click here.

“This program is meant to build community partnerships between students and model community citizens and bridge older and younger generations together,” said Principal Gibney. “It is wonderful to see students engaged and excited to learn from some of our older residents in town. I am excited to see this program grow and evolve for years to come.
