PETERBOROUGH – Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and Antrim Elementary School (AES) Principal Stephanie Syre-Hager are pleased to share that the school’s teachers and  Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) hosted a successful event for families.

On Thursday, March 9, families from preschool to grade 4 were invited to a family math night and a spaghetti supper hosted by the PTO.

The event was created to ensure that all care providers can support students at home in a way that engages and excites them. Caregivers spent the first half of the evening learning to strengthen their child’s knowledge of basic skills by playing math games to build fact fluency.

Students were given gift bags with materials such as playing cards, dice and instructions to play math games to help boost at-home engagement.

Families were also invited to stay for a spaghetti supper which the PTO hosted. A basket raffle was held to raise funds. The raffle raised $300 to cover the cost of the spaghetti dinner.

“It was a fun night of learning and coming together as a community,” Principal Syre-Hager said. “We hope family math night will help caregivers connect with their children and bolster math engagement.”
