Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and Principal Stephanie Syre-Hager are pleased to share that Antrim Elementary School students participated in a residency program with the New Hampshire Dance Institute (NHDI).
The week-long residency program, designed to empower students in their learning through physical exercise and the performing arts, kicked off on Friday, Feb. 17. Throughout the last week, Residency Teaching Artist Jeanine Edmunds taught each class specialized movements and dances related to the theme, “REVEALED!”
The theme is an exploration of world, human and art history, and what it means to be human, tying into the students’ work through their unveiling of their art and its connection to themselves. NHDI aims to incorporate high-energy dance, playfulness, social-emotional learning and a growth mindset as students explore human nature.
Students showcased the dance routines they had worked on for families and loved ones at the Antrim Elementary School gymnasium on Friday, Feb. 24.
The New Hampshire Dance Institute residency program has been a tradition at Antrim Elementary since 2009, and has been a successful way to empower, enrich, and energize students while teaching confidence and inspiring excellence.
“We’re so grateful for our continued partnership with NHDI and the immersive learning experience their expert instructors provide for our students,” Syre-Hager said.
NHDI also offers a yearlong program for older students, along with summer camps and summer programming.
